Fundraising Apprentice

Job description

If you want an apprenticeship that literally changes lives – well this is the one for you. We will give you the opportunity to become part of our fundraising team. You’ll learn about fundraising, customer service, databases, analysing data, financial planning, administration and all the fun stuff too – you will be key to our team so you’ll get to work with lots of us in the organisation as well as talking to hundreds of our inspirational supporters. You will also work towards gaining an Institute of Fundraising accredited qualification.

Position in the organisation

  • Reports to the Fundraising Manager
  • Liaises with all Fundraisers within the team
  • External facing to public supporters at community events

Scope of Job

  • Assisting Fundraisers with daily tasks and projects
  • Based in Head Office Liverpool
  • Learning in a fast-moving environment
  • Assisting with volunteers and collections
  • Providing support to volunteers
  • Events Support and Assistance
  • Providing excellent customer service to supporters
  • Researching new areas and providing feedback

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of plans for local fundraising across the UK
  • Assisting with research into new fundraising opportunities across the UK
  • Offer excellent donor care and customer service to volunteers, groups and associations, beneficiary events and individuals.
  • Assisting with nationwide event initiatives
  • Working as a motivated, positive and effective member of the fundraising team
  • Working through a work based development plan to improve skills and give experience in all aspects of Fundraising and training programme

Person Specification

Education / qualifications / knowledge

  • Numerate and literate
  • Knowledge of the principles of good customer care
  • Understands principles of relationship building
  • Familiarity with IT

Experience

  • Experience of working in a customer service or public facing role

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to take direction and learn through practical experience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Work effectively with others towards common goals and targets

Personal Qualities

  • Self-starter, motivated and positive
  • Able to show empathy for people or families living with lung cancer or bereaved
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and sharing success
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as required (time off in lieu given)
  • Friendly outgoing nature and eager to learn
