Communications & Campaigns Manager
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum
Hours: 34 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Location: Liverpool Head Office with hybrid working. The role includes regular travel to Glasgow and other locations across the UK.

We’re looking for an experienced and creative Communications & Campaigns Manager to lead our communications strategy, deliver impactful awareness campaigns and help raise the profile of lung cancer across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic planning with hands-on delivery, building media relationships, creating compelling stories and making a genuine difference.
About the role
As Communications & Campaigns Manager, you’ll lead the charity’s communications and public awareness activity, helping to increase understanding of lung cancer and promote our work across research, screening, advocacy and patient support.
Working across traditional and digital channels, you’ll develop engaging campaigns, secure media coverage, create inspiring patient stories and ensure our messaging is clear, consistent and impactful.
What you’ll be doing
Communications & Media Relations
- Develop and deliver communications that raise awareness of lung cancer and our work.
- Write press releases, media statements and briefing documents.
- Act as the main contact for media enquiries.
- Build strong relationships with journalists, broadcasters and media organisations.
- Identify opportunities to secure positive media coverage.
- Develop powerful patient and supporter stories with sensitivity and care.
Campaigns & Awareness
- Lead the planning and delivery of our annual Lung Cancer Awareness Month campaign.
- Develop innovative campaigns that increase public awareness and engagement.
- Secure sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Manage the production of campaign materials including video, print and digital assets.
Digital Communications
- Manage and update website news and content.
- Support and contribute to social media activity.
- Ensure all communications reflect our brand, values and tone of voice.
- Work with colleagues to promote campaigns, services and fundraising activities across multiple channels.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support communications for research, screening and community programmes.
- Work with NHS partners and healthcare organisations to promote lung cancer screening.
- Develop communications plans for healthcare professionals, researchers, supporters and patient communities.
Content Development
- Produce presentations, speeches, reports and briefing documents.
- Ensure patient information remains accurate, accessible and up to date.
- Create engaging content that showcases the charity’s impact.
Community Development
- Lead the development and launch of our new online community for patients, carers and supporters.
- Encourage engagement within online communities.
- Build relationships with patient advocates and community ambassadors.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Measure the success of communications and campaigns.
- Produce regular reports on media coverage, campaign performance and digital engagement.
- Use data and insights to continuously improve communications activity.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about communications and understands how great storytelling can inspire action.
Essential
- Experience in communications, PR, marketing or campaigns, ideally within the charity, healthcare or public sector.
- Strong media relations experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing websites and social media channels.
- Experience delivering successful awareness campaigns.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Experience working with people with lived experience, patients or volunteers.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of brand management and governance.
- A creative, collaborative and proactive approach.
Desirable
- Knowledge of lung cancer, public health or health inequalities.
- Experience working with the NHS or healthcare organisations.
- Experience managing agencies or external suppliers.
- Experience building and managing online communities.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and analytics.
