Keep in Touch Support Service
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation supports people affected by lung cancer across the UK. This service started as a way of offering support to those with lung cancer shielding as a result of covid-19. The service has been valued by patients and carers who are isolated, adjusting to diagnosis and treatment impact and would like regular contact with Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. We intend to extend this service as part of our ongoing information and support for people.
We are adapting our services to meet the needs of people with lung cancer. As a charity we will offer relevant information, support and practical help. One way we have adapted is to introduce this new service, Keep in Touch Support Service.
We live on a farm (I know we are very lucky) and have been isolating for nearly three weeks now and the only person we see is our son when he brings us food parcels and drops them off at the gate! Phone is a lifeline and it would be lovely to hear from the team at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation anytime.
Who is this service for?
The service is for people with lung cancer and their carers. Priority will be given to those who are socially isolated and would like some extra contact.
What is the service?
You will be called regularly by a member of our support team. We will arrange to give you a call at a suitable, agreed time each week or fortnight or month. You can decide how often you are contacted.
A support team member will call you as agreed to have a chat and offer information if you are having any difficulties. The call would last approximately 25 minutes, adapted to suit you. If you need clinical or practical support you would be put in touch with other services, with your permission.
The service is free, confidential and will be led by staff who work for the charity.
