5 Reasons to take on the Par 5 One Club Challenge:

Reason #1 : We are the only UK charity solely dedicated to helping anyone affected by lung cancer.

Reason #2 : Demand for our Ask the Nurse helpline has increased by 56% since January. At a time when there is so much uncertainty regarding treatment, shielding and hospital visits, we have shifted our priorities to cope with the increased demand, to ease patients anxiety and relieve some of the pressure on the NHS 111 service.

Reason #3 : People with lung cancer have been told to shield themselves as some of the most vulnerable people to Covid-19. This means they are advised to not leave their home at all. As you can imagine, this can have a serious impact on their mental health, particularly if they live alone. We have responded instantly to this concern and set up our Keep in Touch Support Service, with members of our team calling patients and carers on a regular basis to ensure they are ok and help them resolve any issues they might be having.

Reason #4: We are working with the NHS and other cancer charities to bring the latest information and recommendations to keep patients and their families informed at all times.

Reason #5 : With the economic impact the coronavirus is having on patients and their families, we are changing how we offer our patient grants to ensure we are there for more people.

About the charity

We are the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. We fund essential research and provide much needed support, information and advice. We raise awareness and challenge the misconceptions of lung cancer. We do all this so those affected can expect better.
