Miles & Smiles for Sean: Taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon

This April, a team of six incredible women will line up at the start of the London Landmarks Half Marathon with one very special person in their hearts. Their team name says it all: Miles & Smiles for Sean.

Julie, Sean’s wife, will be joined by Debbie, Tracy, Sue, Karen and Carey – Sean’s sister-in-law and a close circle of dear friends. Together, they’re taking on 13.1 miles to honour a man who meant the world to them and to celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.

Running in Sean’s Footsteps

Sean was a passionate runner, among many other things. Over the years, he raised thousands of pounds for charity, always pushing himself not just for the challenge, but to make a difference. After his lung cancer diagnosis, he continued to show extraordinary determination and positivity. Even in his final months, Sean channelled his energy into supporting those around him. He was brave, driven and selfless to the end.

Sean was Julie’s husband, her rock, her biggest supporter and her best friend. To Debbie, Tracy, Sue, Karen and Carey, he was a loyal friend who inspired everyone around him. He had a rare gift for encouraging others to recognise their strengths and use them well. He made people believe they could do hard things. And that is exactly what this team is doing now.

More Than a Run

Some of the team are keener runners than others, but that hardly matters. This day is about so much more than pace or personal bests. It’s about making memories and taking selfies at London’s iconic landmarks. It’s about laughter, friendship and carrying Sean with them every single step of the way.

When the miles feel tough, they know they’ll imagine Sean right there with them, spurring them on. Sat on their shoulders. Cheering the loudest. And they know, without a doubt, that he would absolutely love this and be so proud.

Looking Ahead to the Big Day

Ask them what they’re most looking forward to, and the answer is refreshingly honest: getting to the finish line.

But also soaking up the atmosphere and taking in the sights and feeling the buzz of the crowd. And, most importantly, having fun together.

Training is going well, and they’re making steady progress. They feel confident they’ll be ready. After all, they’re not running alone.

Sean will be with them the whole way. 💛
