We have been approached by a PhD Researcher who is recruiting for a new study which looks at whether an online, self-guided programme called Finding My Way-UK can support people who are living with cancer, or who have completed treatment aimed at curing their cancer.
The programme helps people reflect on their experiences. It also helps them recognise positive changes and personal strengths that may come from cancer.
This early pilot study will show how well the programme works. It will also help researchers improve it before they run a larger study in the future
Researchers are looking for people:
- have been diagnosed with any type of cancer in the last 12 months
- are currently receiving, or have received, treatment aimed at curing your cancer
If you are eligible and choose to take part, you will complete a set of online questionnaires before being randomly placed into one of two groups.
Participants in the intervention group will be given access to Finding My Way-UK for four weeks. During this time, they can work through six self-guided online modules at their own pace.
Participants in the control group will continue with their usual support during this time. After the study ends, they will also be given access to the programme.
All participants will be asked to complete follow-up questionnaires at the end of the four weeks and again three months later. The study is carried out entirely online, so you can take part from home at a time that suits you.
