Annual fundraiser exceeds targets to help with cost of living support

Corporate partner, Women on the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC), has raised over £10,000 at its annual fundraiser for its two chosen charities – Maggie’s and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Following a postponement in 2022, the sell-out party was held at the House of Lords, which provided an incredible backdrop to an evening bringing together friends and colleagues, all with the mission of raising funds for both charities which provide care and support for those going through a cancer diagnosis.

The total surpasses its original pledge of £7500. When combined with money raised throughout this year and last, WOMAC can proudly donate an incredible £10,000 to each charity, that will fund ongoing support for those living with cancer.

Paula Chadwick is the chief executive of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. She explains why this donation is so vital:

From the pandemic to the current cost of living crisis, we are living in unprecedented times. Our nurse led helpline is dealing with more and more calls about the financial burden of a lung cancer diagnosis, while demand for our patient grants continues to rise.

The monies raised from this event allows us to continue to support those living with lung cancer in these turbulent times, and for that we are most grateful.

Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, said: “Once again, I’m astounded by the generosity shown at this year’s party and am delighted we have exceeded our target donation for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

“None of this would be possible without the backing of so many people and companies who have supported WOMAC for so many years. I cannot thank each and every one of them enough. To see what these donations means to the charities makes it all worthwhile, and to know we are helping people going through one of the worst times of their life is truly priceless.”

The party doesn’t mark the end of our 2022/2023 fundraising efforts and donations can be made via WOMAC’s current JustGiving page by visiting: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/womac2022.
