18th June 2022 North West

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED

Consider yourself a bit of a comedian? Maybe you were voted Class Clown at school, or perhaps you regularly have your friends and colleagues in stitches. Well, turn that talent into fundraising with our brand new comedy event – Beyond a Joke.

We are teaming up with The Comedy Trust to give budding comedians the opportunity take part in their sell out Comedy Course for Beginners and raise money to help those living with lung cancer.

Working with a leading circuit comedian, you will benefit from a five-week workshop where you’ll learn to create and shape your own stand-up routine. You’ll then take to the stage to perform in front of an audience of family and friends.

I enjoyed the Comedy Course for Beginners immensely. It was such fun. Everyone was so friendly and Sam was such an informative and interesting tutor. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to be involved in stand-up comedy and also to anyone wanting to boost their confidence in public speaking.

The comedy training…

The Comedy Trust will be hosting workshops from the 11th May to the 8th June from 6pm – 8pm in the Old Hall in the Cotton Exchange Building on Bixteth Street, Liverpool for our budding comedians.

The main event will then take place on Saturday 18th June at Studio in the iconic Royal Court. Tickets are now on sale for just £12.

What’s included for our comedians…

  • A chance to broaden their skill set, improve your confidence and try something out of the ordinary – all whilst raising money for a good cause.
  • Five high-quality group workshops with a professional comedian to refine and perfect their set
  • Mentored by comedians Rob Thomas and Sarah Jones
  • Their name, picture and bio in the official Beyond a Joke programme
  • Fundraising support and advice.

It may seem like a scary prospect to stand on stage and make people laugh, but it’s nowhere near as scary as being told you have lung cancer.

We are so grateful to our nine budding comedians who will take to the stage this June and help raise vital funds for all those affected by lung cancer. You can also show your support to our comedians and those affected by the disease by coming along to the show this June.

Not everyone wants to run a marathon; Beyond a Joke is a fantastic and unique way to raise money and help those living with lung cancer.
