Powerful, painful and truthful, Exposed tells the story of Charlotte – a thirty-something year old whose life dramatically changes after she loses her dad to cancer. Inviting audiences to observe her therapy sessions, the play begins with Charlotte reflecting on the moment she received the devastating news, as she grapples with the shock and pain, the life she once knew begins to quickly unravel.
Suddenly, everything has changed; Charlotte’s relationship with her boyfriend ends, she leaves a job she loves and moves back to Liverpool in the hope of finding joy. But the shadows and sounds of grief follow her manifesting in anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of disconnection.
As Charlotte struggles with her physical and mental health, life forces her to carry on. The play exposes the raw and unfiltered emotions and symptoms of grief – how it lingers, echoes, and shapes every aspect of Charlotte’s existence.
As Charlotte confronts her pain, she begins to find a glimmer of hope, knowing that while the sound of grief may never fully fade, it can evolve into something that helps her move forward and laugh again.
