Air pollution causes around 3600 cases of lung cancer every year. But, during lockdown, we saw bike sales shoot up and air pollution dropped.
What’s more, nearly a fifth of people with a lung condition said their symptoms, such as breathlessness, improved.
Then things opened back up. Bikes were parked, and engines revved. Air pollution increased again and, with it, the continued risk of lung cancer.
But we now know there is another way. A cleaner, fresher way, and we all need to play our part.
Lung cancer is still here
We need to do our bit to reduce the risk and improve the quality of life for those living with the disease.
So, leave the car at home. Walk the kids to school. Cycle to the shop, and let’s all breathe a little easier.
