The National Lung Cancer Audit’s 2nd ‘State of the Nation’ report for people diagnosed with lung cancer between 1 January and 31 December 2022 in England and Wales was published on the NLCA website on 10th April 2024.
The report shows how your NHS Trust or Health Board is performing on a national level. There are a range of measures designed to show how diagnosis and treatment is happening compared to standards expected, called performance indicators.
The Audit team has produced a series of dashboards designed to show how cancer alliances/ networks are doing compared to others across England and Wales. There is a summary patient report produced for those who are affected. The report has followed on from a consultation with people affected by lung cancer and a new public patient involvement group was established in 2023.
If you would like to know more or get involved you can contact Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s support team. If you have any questions about what to expect during diagnosis and treatment, contact our Ask the Nurse team on 0800 358 7200 or email lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org
The Audit in lung cancer is well respected as a way of assessing progress in services and the impact on access to treatments and improvements in survival and earlier diagnosis. It has been used as evidence for raising standards and tackling problems in the pathway.
