Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Chief Executive, Paula Chadwick, finds herself in exalted company today. She has secured a place on the ‘Top 50 Power List’ at the inaugural Northern Power Women Awards.
Organisers announced the winners at a ceremony hosted by Leah Boleto. The event took place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Thursday 3 March.
Celebrating Gender Equality in the North
The Northern Power Women Awards celebrate people who work to create gender balance in organisations. The awards also recognise those who support gender equality across the north of England.
Leadership at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation
Paula Chadwick has served as CEO of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation since 2012. During that time, she has led the charity’s expansion from its base in the North West to become a nationwide organisation.
She first joined the charity in 1995 as PA to its founder, chest surgeon Ray Donnelly MBE. Over time, she progressed through several roles before becoming CEO.
During the past 26 years, her work has helped secure the foundation’s position as the only UK charity dedicated solely to lung cancer. She now works with colleagues to plan further growth and development.
Reaction to the Award
On receiving the award, Paula Chadwick said:
“This is a wonderful honour. It recognises the work done by Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and all our amazing supporters, volunteers and staff”.
At the ceremony, organisers showed a short film. It highlighted the impact of lung cancer and revealed that 44 women die from the disease every day.
Paula added:
“We have much work to do to achieve our aim of beating lung cancer – which kills more women and men than any other form of the disease. But we are determined, and we will get there.”
