Vote Roy Castle in November’s fundraising charity poll

View all Press releases

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is one of three nominated charities in My Favourite Voucher Codes charity poll for November and could receive 20% of the site’s profits – but we need your help.

From 1st November, simply visit My Favourite Voucher Codes and vote for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. The charity with the most votes at the end of the month will then receive 20% of the site’s profits for November.

It’s completely free to take part and you don’t need to sign up or use any vouchers to vote in the poll. Any vouchers that are used however would contribute to the overall amount donated to the winning charity.

Paula Chadwick is the chief executive of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation:

“We’re delighted to be nominated in My Favourite Voucher Codes charity poll, especially as November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

A big part of what we do is raise awareness of lung cancer, its signs and symptoms and who it can affect to ensure as many people as possible are diagnosed at the earliest opportunity, when life-saving treatment is possible.

Each year, we run an awareness campaign throughout November. However, this year, given the severe impact Covid has had and continues to have on lung cancer referral rates, diagnosis and treatment, we launched this year’s campaign early.

With so much attention on Covid, lung cancer has been casted into the shadows. A persistent cough, one of the most common symptoms of the disease, is now overtly associated with coronavirus. As a result, lung cancer referral rates remain well below expected levels and therefore people will miss the chance to be diagnosed early.

Our Still Here campaign has a simple but essential message – lung cancer is still here, and it will not wait for the pandemic to be over. A cough does not just mean Covid; it is also a symptom of lung cancer, so if you have concerns, you must act. Contact your GP and ask for an appointment – be it via telephone, on Zoom or face-to-face.”

The charity, which is the only UK charity solely dedicated to supporting everyone affected by lung cancer, has been hit hard by the pandemic as Paula explains:

“With major fundraising events cancelled and our shops forced to close for months, we have clearly seen a drop in income, whilst at the same time demand for our services has significantly increased.

We appreciate people may not be able to make a donation in the current climate. The My Favourite Voucher Codes charity poll is therefore a simple way to show your support for us at a time when we desperately need it, so we urge all our supporters to please vote for us.”
