Ambassador Programme

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation ambassadors play a pivotal role in our charity. From raising awareness of lung cancer to providing peer support to those facing a diagnosis, helping us shape our information and acting as the face of the charity in your local area, we need charity ambassadors to help us continue to improve the lives of everyone affected by lung cancer.

What is a Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation ambassador?

Charity ambassadors are representatives of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. You will have the opportunity to use your experience of lung cancer as well as personal expertise and skills to raise awareness of lung cancer and the charity, as well as providing support to others affected by the disease.

Roles and responsibilities

There are many different ways an ambassador can support the charity. You can let us know what you are most interested in and we will then get in touch when a suitable opportunity arises. There is no pressure to commit to every aspect of the roles, nor will you be expected to take on every opportunity that is offered.

Sharing your own experience of lung cancer can help us raise vital awareness of symptoms and encourage others to take action.

As part of our Lung Cancer Connect service, we match ambassadors with people who are facing a similar diagnosis.

Sharing your experience with the media can help us raise the profile of lung cancer on a national scale and reach more people.

Join us as we get out into the communities that need us the most to raise awareness of lung cancer, its symptoms and the charity.

Our readership panel help to ensure our information is clear and easy to understand.

From our information days to parliamentary events, you can share your experiences to provide reassurance and raise awareness.

From our exciting new running events to family favourite Spooky Welly Walk, you can ensure events run smoothly and that a good time is had by all.

Gratefully receive kind donations from our incredible supporters on our behalf and explain how this money will help those affected by lung cancer.

Income from our shops allows us to continue our vital work and you can be part of it by volunteering your time in one of our shops across the North West.

Spread our key messages far and wide as a Roy Castle Ambassador. Join our campaigns, distribute information in your local area or just shout from the rooftops!

What you’ll get

As a Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation ambassador, you will be fully supported throughout your time in the role.

Ambassadors will receive an induction welcome pack, with lots of information about the charity and useful resources.
You will also be invited to our next induction video call where you’ll meet other ambassadors as well as staff from the charity who will take you through all the different ways to get involve and answer any questions you may have.
You’ll be appointed a point of contact within the charity who will regularly check in with you and will be available during working hours to answer any questions.
You’ll receive quarterly emails detailing current and upcoming projects and opportunities that you may want to get involved with.
A Roy Castle Ambassador pin badge to wear with pride as you undertake your role, as well as charity t-shirt.
Pre-prepared presentations for any events and a run through with your charity point of contact.
Public speaking and media training ahead of any interviews and/or events with your charity point of contact. You’ll also receive a short bullet pointed list of key messages.

Your commitment

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation ambassadors are the faces of this charity. It is therefore essential that you follow the charity’s guidance and instruction whenever acting on its behalf. Upon becoming an ambassador, you will be required to sign an agreement stating you understand the roles, responsibilities, expectations and standards of this role.

In order to become an ambassador, you will also need to complete an application pack, have a one-on-one interview with a member of the team and participate in an induction webinar. You will also need to consent to a DBS check and supply two character references.

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation retain the right to decline an application if the applicant is deemed unsuitable for the role.
