Lights of Hope 2024

Christmas is a time for peace, reflection and hope. A time to spend with loved ones and treasure special memories of those no longer with us.

The Lights of Hope Christmas appeal encourages supporters to fill our Christmas trees with bright, shining lights in support of all those affected by lung cancer and to remember those no longer with us.

We kindly ask you to give generously this Christmas. Each light you add to our tree will help illuminate the path to better outcomes for lung cancer patients and their families. Together, we can make this holiday season one of hope and progress.

Each light will shine brightly, not just in memory of those we’ve lost, but as a guiding star leading us towards a future where lung cancer no longer dims the brightness of our lives.

Lights of Hope Carol Services

Supporters are invited to a special carol service where the lights will be switched on. From patients to nurses, researchers to supporters, staff and volunteers – everyone is welcome. Please join us at:

Together we will come together to enjoy the festivities, as best we can, with Christmas carols and readings. We will reflect on our achievements past and present and pay tribute to those no longer with us.

As a charity, we want our patients to survive lung cancer and live well beyond their diagnosis. Our progress over the last 30 years has been instrumental and we are seeing vast improvements. Donations from this appeal will help us to continue our progress and help more people affected by lung cancer, people like Alex.

Lights of Hope supports all families affected by lung cancer, families like the Shaw’s…

Alex was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2022 at the age of 45. He was fit and healthy with a wonderful partner and two children. Understandably this came as a massive shock. Alex was put on an urgent pathway of scans and investigations which resulted in a diagnosis of stage 1b.

Alex had surgery to remove half of his left lung in January 2023. Alex has recovered well and even completed the 2024 London Marathon. Alex joined our team of 85 runners, all running with their reasons and stories of loss and hope.

“It was an absolute honour to represent Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation – this gave me more than I could ever imagine. I’m so thrilled to have done my bit for the cause and met some amazing people, but it also kept me motivated to continue my recovery to the best of my abilities and do something that would make my family proud. I’ll be eternally grateful for that. Thank you for having me and helping me back to life.”
